Sweeping Up

The cats couldn’t be more excited—I swept the kitchen floor today.  Okay, that sounds bad, like I never sweep the kitchen.  What I really mean is that today the cats all took notice when I was sweeping and apparently realized how much fun it could be.
Under the rug by the sink, Frank and Finnegan found the plastic strip from around a can of frozen OJ concentrate and batted it around like a hockey puck.

I had tossed the rug into a heap in the dining room to get it out of the way.  Toby started snuggling with it.  It was the same rug that lies unnoticed in front of the sink every day of the week.

Eventually Frank and Finny’s hockey puck went under the refrigerator to live with dozens of its friends until cleaning day next spring.  Frank then joined Toby in the dining room where they used the kitchen bar stools for a jungle gym.

Biff was content attacking items in the dust pile as I tried to swish them into the dust pan.
Only three months until the first day of spring….
