With Glad Thanksgiving

You just never know where you'll find them

With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, it’s time to look at life with greater appreciation.  I could go on and on about how my year has been richly blessed, but for now I’ll just focus on good things the cats have brought us.
1.       We are blessed with laughter—whether they are stuck head-first in a soup can, trying to pounce on a grasshopper, or falling into a sink filled with dishwater, their antics never cease to amuse.
2.       We are blessed with comfort and companionship—there is nothing more restful than having a purring cat on my lap, especially on cold days.
3.       Not my favorite, but we are blessed with ample exercise opportunities—chasing cats, returning cats that followed us down the street, and searching the neighborhood for AWOL animals at bedtime.
4.       We are blessed by the many virtues cat ownership hones in us—patience, endurance, persistence, and love.
5.       The cats are a special blessing during piano lessons—they greet the kids and put them at ease, provide pet therapy during tough practice sessions, and (we are back where we started) are great at comic relief.
Despite the work, expense, sleep deprivation, and prevailing sense of exasperation, I am so grateful that we are able to have a fur family and for all the stories they provide.
