My daughter and Henriette |
Last night my daughter
witnessed a beautiful, amazing thing. It was
hedgehog playtime in the upstairs bathroom.
Toby and Frank were on hand to observe and to keep an eye on the cat
treat container that my daughter brought with.
The cat treats were meant for Henriette, but Frank was sucking them up
like a vacuum cleaner. Toby, who is
normally fierce in the food acquisition department, daintily picked up a treat
and brought it over to Henriette, gently dropping it at her feet.
There’s
a moment we can all learn from! Cats
and hedgehogs may not be natural enemies, but they certainly aren’t natural
allies either. They have to be watchful
and tentative around each other. There
are people in my life like that—ones that could lash out if I say the wrong
thing or ones that would run me over if I’m in their way. Toby is on to something—love them
anyway—sure you might get trampled (or prickled in his case), but that could happen regardless so why
not be kind?
